Digital Signature Certificate for Trademark and Patent eFiling, IPR

In order to e-file Patent and Trademarks applications in India, the Controller General of Patents, Design and Trademarks (CGPDTM) has implemented Class 3 digital signature certificate. Under the e-filing system, obtaining a Class 3 Digital Signature Certificate has been made mandatory. Thus, any individual, attorney, or agent, must obtain a Class 3 DSC before they can proceed with the registration of a trademark. Digital Signature for the Trademark and Patent Registration under the Intellectual Property Right (IPR) helps to protect your intellectual property like a patent, trademark, and copyright, etc.

Indian Patent Office accepts online applications for patents. So, it is mandatory for agents, organizations, or individuals to use their class 3 DSC while applying to IPO for patents. Once the registration gets complete, the user needs to add its digital signature for the e-filing of patents. Similarly, to file for a trademark online, a class 3 DSC is required. The use of paperless DSCs at the time of e-filing of a trademark application online, lowers the chance of information getting stolen or tampered during the transactions.
